The publisher, Sky Pony at Simon & Schuster, kindly offered me an advanced reader copy (ARC) of Kissing Ezra Holtz (and Other Things I Did for Science) by Brianna R. Shrum via Edelweiss+. Yet, this is an honest review of the book expressing my humble opinion.
Kissing Ezra Holtz (and Other Things I Did for Science) is one of the best YA contemporaries I’ve ever read! Light-hearted, diverse, #ownvoices, and authentic. Brianna R. Shrum has written an excellent book for teens that stands out in the market due to its unapologetic attitude, diversity, and authenticity. It’s the book I needed when I was a teenager.
I loved Amalia and Ezra, as well as all the Jewish traditions and elements that were flawlessly and organically infused with the story. I was the teen who didn’t have a plan B, and even though I didn’t need it, there are teens out there who will need to see that they’ll be okay even if they don’t get admitted to their first choice of college, that they’ll be okay regardless.
I loved everything about this book, and Brianna R. Shrum has become an instant buy for me. She writes a book, I’ll buy the book. I’ll even buy a physical copy of this book because it’s one of my all-time favorites!! One of the most authentic, light-hearted, and diverse YA contemporaries out there. A must-read, hands down.
I ADORE this book!!!!
